About this experience
Setting off from Flamengo Beach at sunrise or sunset, our kayak tour of Guanabara Bay gives you a front-row view of some of the city's best-known sights: Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf, Dois Irmãos, Pedra da Gávea and the Rio–Niterói Bridge.
Along the way we also pass Urca Beach, home to the old Cassino da Urca building, and the historic Forte da Laje, which together with the São João and Santa Cruz da Barra fortresses was the city's main defence for more than 200 years.
How the day goes
- Meet at Flamengo Beach.
- 20 minutes on basic sea-kayaking technique and safety procedures.
- Launch from Flamengo Beach and paddle around Guanabara Bay.
- Return to the starting point.
